Samsonite, world leader in luggage, is a trendsetter in travel solutions. Thanks to trail-blazing research and continuous striving to achieve innovation and improve quality. The site in Oudenaarde (Belgium) is the product development hub.
Challenge
10 thermoforming machines for lightweight Cosmolite suitcases, made from a material called CURV®.
Solution
The development of this innovative technology required close consultation with Samsonite Oudenaarde. Vaskon offered a (patented) overall solution combining the following elements:
- Automatic Curv® sheet infeed
- Automatic stretch film application
- Preheating, fixing and forming, using thermoforming technology
- Handling and discharge of the end product

Why Valtech Group?
Vaskon took charge of the full mechanical design and all of the automation and manufacture issues associated with thermoforming moulds. In addition, Vaskon could rely on the broad expertise of Valtech Group. Valvan Baling Systems was asked to assist with the roller presses, whereas the hydraulic group was supplied by Allhydro.
