Controller upgrade:
new controller on 3D punching line.

SedActa supplies a new controller to an existing SOENEN 3D punching line. This is a CNC controlled machine supplying steel profiles with a hole template at a high accuracy and with complete flexibility. These profiles form the truck chassis after blasting and coating.

Client

DAF Trucks

DAF Trucks in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, is a full subsidiary of the American PACCAR Inc. company. DAF Trucks core activities focus on the development, production, sales and service of trucks.

Challenge

To limit production losses to an absolute minimum, machine interventions should be prepared to the minutest detail. In close cooperation with the customer, our team searched to replace outdated components first and then we started the installation and commissioning of the new controller.

The new controller had to be built with components from the most recent product lines of large brands to ensure the smooth delivery of service parts.

Thanks to some software component and motion controller optimizations, the production capacity of the machine could be significantly increased. Therefore, the return on investment will be achieved in the shortest period possible.

Result

  • Replacement of the old controller by a high-performance CNC controller
  • New HMI and automation software
  • Replacement of outdated components with items from recent product lines
  • Completion to plan.
  • New state-of-the-art controller allowing for high availability of the machine for many years to come.
  • 15% production capacity increase
